I have been a 'Star Trek' fan all my life. It is because of Star Trek I developed a great interest in science and, thanks to Dr. McCoy, medicine. I spent many years working as a nurse in London and Ireland. I now work in the area of special needs.
I like any sci-fi that shows mankind in a positive light. I share Gene Roddenberry's vision of the future. He said that in the 24th century there’ll be no hunger, there will be no greed, and all the children will know how to read.
My position on board the USS Cuchulain is Ship's Counsellor. A counsellor is a position aboard Starfleet vessels usually held by a senior Starfleet officer with training in psychology. The Ship's Counselor also has a diplomatic role, advising the captain in First Contact and other situations. The responsibility of a Ship's Counsellor is to take care of the emotional well-being of a ship's crew and guests.
Favourite Trek moment: There are too many to choose just one, but my favourite episode is "The City on the Edge of Forever".
Favourite Character: Dr. Leonard McCoy (TOS)
